Down-tempo productions that are hypnotising and infectiously melodic. Affelaye draws influences from dubstep, garage and r&b whilst retaining his own style.
There’s a subtlety to Affelaye’s music, each track has layers of ambience that sit smoothly in the mix alongside chopped R&B vocals and understated percussive drums. His debut EP ‘Maybe There’ features three original tracks along with remixes from Warsnare and Bad Taste’s own Lean Low.
Opening track ‘Want Me’ sets the tone with its laid back and harmonic groove for most of the track then ending with Garage influences. ‘Hues’ sounds like the love-child of Jamie XX and Floating Points – probably the most upbeat track from Affelaye on the EP. Each track on ‘Maybe There’ flows harmoniously, a strong debut from Joe Martin.
